During these past summer months a few key members from the Neighborhood Network Watch, traveled to Los Angeles, California to begun working to establish the second chapter of the Neighborhood Network Watch. The trip dealt mostly with the training of a few choice individuals on the technological sides of working with the tools needed to carry out the objectives of the N.N.W. along with orienting and educating them on the unique position that the N.N.W. commands in the current global fight against terrorism. Visits were also made to some of the surrounding cities within Los Angeles County, East Los Angeles, the San Gabriel Valley, and also Santa Clarita County. Over all those whom we met in Los Angeles were very enthusiastic and anxious to begin working within the community. More training will be taking place over the next months and hopefully by early 2008 and the Los Angeles chapter of the N.N.W. will be ready to begin operations.
The word list has continued to evolve and grew in scope. We hit a milestone just this past week with the addition of the F.B.I.'s terrorist wanted list, terrorist information request list, cyber crimes list, and the top ten most wanted list. These list not only include the names of the individuals but also their entire collections of aliases. We are almost done with the integration of Interpol's terrorist wanted list. We expect this to be finished sometime within the next two weeks or so. The word list development team will also be looking at adding other contextual and background information from these lists into the word list. We will be reprocessing all previously collected traffic with the new word list sometime within the coming months.
The official Neighborhood Network Watch website has begun construction and will hopefully be unveiled sometime in December 2007 or January 2008. We will keep you posted on its development.
ew possibilities maybe opening up, for the N.N.W., in regard to military satellite imagery in the foreseeable future. This is due to the new formation of the National Applications Office (N.A.O.). It is a new branch of the Department of Homeland Security brought forth by our executive branch. The N.A.O. is designed to facilitate civil and domestic homeland operations with the technological assets of the intelligence community. This will include geo-spatial mapping and imagery from spy and military satellites. This is of particular interest to all of us here at the N.N.W. since our work is geographically oriented or rooted.
With all the new developments going on within the N.N.W. and the D.H.S. and the new addition of the N.A.O. there is still the need to continue to be not only vigilant and an active member of the community but also to continue to recruit and inform individuals of the Neighborhood Network Watch's mission and activities.
